How the Mainstay Score works
The score is a number from 0 to 100 that sums up how well your website is set up for search engines and for the customers who find it. It comes from 20 checks. Each check is a fact about your public pages, so two people scanning the same site on the same day get the same number.
What we do
- We read your homepage, then follow your own links to up to 40 pages, the way a search engine does.
- We run the checks below against those pages.
- Each check is a pass, a warning or a fail. A pass earns full credit, a warning half, a fail none.
- Checks count for more or less. The ones that decide whether search engines can find and trust your site count triple or double. The rest count once.
The checks
Sitemap · Robots file · Not hidden from search · Canonical addresses · Broken links · Secure connection (HTTPS)
Counts double (weight 2)Page titles · Page descriptions · One main heading · Phone friendly · Structured data · Share preview image
Counts onceHeading order · Image descriptions · Internal links · Image weight · Page addresses
Reported, but not in the numberSpeed measures, Search Console and Backlinks need tools outside a public scan, so we show them as notes and never guess. AI-readiness (how well AI assistants can read your site) is reported separately and does not change the score.
What the colors mean
90 to 100 strong. 70 to 89 good with gaps. Under 70 real problems are costing you visibility.
What the score is not
- It is not a promise of rankings, traffic or sales. Ranking depends on many things we cannot see.
- It describes the day it was scanned. Fix something and re-scan to see it change.
- It checks your website only, not your reviews, ads or social media.
The badge
Add the badge to your site and it shows your current score. It is tied to your domain: it shows your real score only on your own website, and shows a gray "Not verified" badge anywhere else, so nobody can borrow yours. You prove the domain is yours by adding one line to your site. The badge links to a public page that shows the score and the scan date.
The leaderboard
The leaderboard lists only sites that asked to be listed and proved they own the domain, and only at 70 or above. You can leave it at any time.
Free
The scan, the badge and the monthly refresh are free. We built it because a healthy site helps every local business, and we are happy for you to know who made it. If you want help fixing what the scan found, Trube Technologies can do that, and you are under no obligation.
